On Wednesday night, Beyoncé kicked off her Renaissance World Tour, her first solo tour in seven years, in Stockholm. A huge crowd of fans, some having traveled thousands of miles, filled Friends Arena, dressed in “alien superstar” chic and eagerly awaiting the pop icon’s performance.

Beyoncé’s performance featured elaborate visuals, but was noticeably less physical than on past tours, leading fans to speculate whether the singer was injured. However, this did not seem to dampen the audience’s enthusiasm, as they cheered for her over the three-hour concert. The setlist included songs from many of her albums, including her latest album “Renaissance.”

The tour is a tribute to decades of Black queer dance music and its LP, which opened at No.1 last summer. The concert showcased several futuristic fashion choices, including iridescent-effect dresses, shimmery gold bodysuits, and black and silver suits resembling royal armor.
