According to the Daily Mail, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have named their baby boy RZA Athelston Mayers, seemingly after RZA, the rapper and producer who leads the Wu-Tang Clan.
The 35-year-old Fenty Beauty founder gave birth to their son on May 13, 2022, four months after Page Six announced her pregnancy. Rihanna did not share any photos or videos of their child for several months until she finally posted a video on Instagram.
During her Super Bowl halftime performance in February 2023, Rihanna revealed that she and the rapper were expecting their second baby. The couple had reportedly gone through “a few names” for their son, according to Rihanna’s dad, Ronald Fenty, who joked that his daughter would “have my head” if he revealed any further details.
In April 2022, Rihanna told Vogue that she “always thought” she’d be married before starting a family. However, she added that she was not going to let that stop her from being a mom, stating, “Who the f–k says it has to be that way?”
The “Umbrella” singer also expressed her plans to be “a passenger as much as the driver” in parenthood, adding that she wants to see who her children become in the world. While Rihanna and A$AP Rocky weren’t actively trying to conceive, they also weren’t preventing a pregnancy.
The musicians, who were longtime friends before their romantic relationship began in early 2020, were quarantining together during the coronavirus pandemic, which is when Rihanna says A$AP became “my family in that time.” Before dating A$AP, Rihanna was in a four-year relationship with Saudi businessman Hassan Jameel, and she has also been linked to Travis Scott, Chris Brown, and Drake.
