Beyoncé and Jay-Z have purchased a sprawling 40,000-square-foot mansion in Malibu for $200 million, shattering the previous record for the most expensive home in California.
The property, located in the affluent Paradise Cove enclave, was designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando and features stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. It consists of six distinct structures and includes a swimming pool, a cabana, and a lush lawn.
The couple reportedly got a good deal on the property, which was originally listed for $295 million. They were represented by Kurt Rappaport from Westside Estate Agency, who also represented the seller.
This is not the first time that Beyoncé and Jay-Z have made headlines for their real estate purchases. In 2017, they bought a $88 million mansion in Bel-Air.
Ando is also designing a home for Kanye West in Malibu. The rapper has been working on the project for several years, and it is expected to be completed in 2024.
The purchase of this mansion by Beyoncé and Jay-Z is a sign of the continued strength of the luxury real estate market in California. Despite the recent economic downturn, there is still a strong demand for high-end homes in the state.
