Rapper Quando Rondo, whose real name is Tyquian Terrel Bowman, has been released on bond after being indicted on drug and gang charges in his hometown of Savannah, Georgia.
A judge granted Bowman a $100,000 bond on Monday, and he was released from jail later that day. He is facing four charges, including being a manager of an illegal street gang known as “Rollin’ 60s.” Other charges allege that he conspired with others to distribute marijuana and to buy pills of the opioid hydrocodone.
Bowman’s lawyer, Jonah Pine, said he was “extraordinarily grateful” that his client had been released on bond. He declined to comment further on the case.
Bowman is a rising star in the rap industry. His singles “I Remember” and “ABG” led to a deal with Atlantic Records, which released his debut album, “QPac,” in 2020. His follow-up album, “Recovery,” came out in March.
The charges against Bowman are serious, but he is presumed innocent until proven guilty. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 11.
Here are some additional details about the charges against Bowman:
- Being a manager of an illegal street gang: This charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
- Conspiring to distribute marijuana: This charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
- Conspiring to buy pills of the opioid hydrocodone: This charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
Bowman is facing a total of 40 years in prison if he is convicted on all charges. However, it is important to remember that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
