Jordana Brewster Talks About Doing Her Own Stunts in the Fast & Furious Franchise

Jordana Brewster, who has starred as Mia Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise for over two decades, talked about what she enjoys most about doing her own stunts.

Brewster told Yahoo Life that she learned about “discipline and maintenance” as a teen when her mother, Brazilian model Maria João, first introduced her to fitness. She also admitted that she has faced pressure to conform to Hollywood’s beauty standards, but that she now credits her multicultural upbringing for helping her overcome it.

Brewster said that she loves the physical challenges of doing her own stunts in the Fast & Furious films. She compared working with a stunt team to working with a dance troupe, saying that it is “meticulously choreographed and planned.” She added that being able to land the choreography and do the stunts herself is “like a badge of honor.”

Brewster also talked about the joy of being able to watch her fellow castmembers grow with their characters throughout the films. She said that she and the other actors have all changed a lot since the first film, but in a good way. She said that she doesn’t worry about aging, because she admires actresses who are in their 50s and look “unbelievable.” She said that these actresses have “been through it” and have “much, much more rich” histories.

Brewster stars in the latest film in the franchise, Fast X, which is currently playing in theaters.
