Apple TV+ Cancels 'High Desert' After One Season - Patricia Arquette Reacts

Apple TV+ has canceled the Patricia Arquette-led comedy-drama series “High Desert” after one season.

The news was announced by Arquette herself in a video posted to Instagram on Saturday.

“A lot of you have asked about ‘High Desert’ and if there was going to be a second season, so I just wanted to let you know that we just found out that we won’t be coming back,” Arquette said. “That’s a sad bummer for all of us.”

Arquette went on to thank the crew, writers, and actors on the series, saying that they “had a blast” making it. She also expressed her gratitude to the fans who watched the show.

“Can’t win them all,” Arquette said. “You know, it sucks but… tough.”

“High Desert” premiered on Apple TV+ on May 17 and ran for eight episodes. The series followed Arquette as Peggy Newman, a drug addict who turns her life around by becoming a private eye in the Yucca Valley desert.

The show was created by Nancy Fichman, Katie Ford, and Jennifer Hoppe, who also served as executive producers alongside Ben Stiller, Nicky Weinstock, Jackie Cohn, Molly Madden, Tom Lasally, and John Cameron. Jay Roach directed all eight episodes.

In a statement to Variety, Arquette said she was “heartbroken” by the cancellation of “High Desert.”

“I loved Peggy and that punk rock world,” Arquette said. “I’m so grateful to the amazing cast and crew who brought her to life, and to the fans who embraced her.”

Representatives for Apple TV+ did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
