Banijay Rights has acquired the global distribution rights to two CNN Original Series food documentaries: Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico and Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy.
Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico follows the Desperate Housewives star on a culinary journey through her ancestral homeland. Over six episodes, Longoria explores the rich culture, landscape, and history of Mexico, and how they have shaped its cuisine.
Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy sees the actor indulge his passion for Italian cooking. Tucci visits food markets and hidden trattorias across Italy, meeting the people and hearing the stories behind the country’s fabled cuisine. The series has two seasons, comprising a total of 14 episodes.
Both series are produced by Raw TV, the company behind the Gold Rush franchise. Tucci serves as an executive producer on both series.
The acquisitions were brokered by Erica Novich of CNN Worldwide and Nicola Davey of Banijay Rights.
“These charming, extraordinary series shine the spotlight on the world’s most renowned culinary cultures and the incredible stories surrounding them,” said Davey.
Other documentary series on Banijay Rights’ slate include Boris and Lara, a series about Boris Johnson and his wife, and a reconciliation feature based around Pablo Escobar’s most famous assassination.
CNN scaled back its Original Series and CNN Films divisions in October last year.
