Jennifer Lopez has responded to criticism of her new cocktail brand, Delola. The singer, who is known for her healthy lifestyle and ageless looks, has been accused of being hypocritical for launching a line of alcoholic beverages.
Lopez addressed the criticism in a video posted to her Instagram account on Tuesday. She said that she has “been having the occasional cocktail” for the past 10 to 15 years, and that she created Delola because she wanted to find a drink that she could enjoy that also aligned with her healthy lifestyle.
“I do enjoy the occasional cocktail,” Lopez said. “I do drink responsibly, I don’t drink to get s–tfaced. I drink to be social and to have a nice time and just relax and let loose a bit, but always responsibly.”
Lopez also said that she understands why some people might be critical of her for launching a cocktail brand, given her husband Ben Affleck’s history of alcohol abuse. However, she said that Delola is not targeted at people who are struggling with addiction.
“I know that some people might be thinking, ‘Well, her husband has had problems with alcohol, why is she launching a cocktail brand?'” Lopez said. “But Delola is not for people who are struggling with addiction. It’s for people like me who enjoy an occasional cocktail in moderation.”
Lopez concluded her video by saying that she is proud of Delola and that she believes it is a “high-quality product” that people will enjoy.
“I’m really proud of Delola,” Lopez said. “I think it’s a great product and I think people are going to love it.”
Delola is a line of canned spritzers that are made with natural ingredients and have lower calorie counts than traditional cocktails. The brand launched in April 2023 and is available in three flavors: Pink Grapefruit, Lime, and Cucumber.
Lopez is not the only celebrity who has launched a line of alcoholic beverages in recent years. Other stars who have done so include Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Serena Williams, and Kate Hudson.
