Taylor Swift released the music video for her song “I Can See You” on Friday night. The video stars her ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner, along with Joey King and Presley Cash.
The video is a metaphor for Swift reclaiming her music from her former record label, Big Machine. In the video, King, Cash, and Lautner break into a vault to rescue Swift, who has been locked inside with the framed cover art for her new album.
WELL. SO. I’ve been counting down for months and finally the ‘I Can See You’ video is out. I wrote this video treatment over a year ago and really wanted to play out symbolically how it’s felt for me to have the fans helping me reclaim my music. Lautner said that he was honored to be in the video and that he respects Swift as a singer, songwriter, and performer. He also said that she is a gracious, humble, and kind person.
Swift said that she is proud of the video and that she always wanted to direct fight scenes and a heist storyline. She said that she had a great time working with her DP Jonathan Sela on the project.
The song “I Can See You” is one of six new tracks that were released on Thursday night as part of Swift’s re-recording of her 2010 album “Speak Now.” The other five tracks are “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” “That’s When,” “Don’t You,” “Bye Bye Baby,” and “Long Live.”
Swift has also been promoting her new album on her “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” tour. The tour kicked off on Friday night in Kansas City, Missouri. Swift surprised fans at the concert by bringing out Lautner, King, and Cash for the premiere of the “I Can See You” music video.
The “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” tour is scheduled to run through November 2023. Swift will be performing songs from her re-recorded albums “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” and “Red (Taylor’s Version)” as well as songs from her original “Speak Now” album.
The album “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” is expected to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Swift’s previous re-recording, “Fearless (Taylor’s Version),” debuted at number one on the chart in April 2021.
