Todd Chrisley, the star of the reality TV show “Chrisley Knows Best,” has alleged that he is being mistreated in prison because of his celebrity status.
Chrisley’s attorney, Jay Surgent, told TMZ that Chrisley believes he is being photographed while sleeping and that his mail is being destroyed. Surgent also said that Chrisley’s living conditions are “terrible” and that the prison is “plagued by bad plumbing, possible mold, and no A.C.”
Chrisley’s wife, Julie Chrisley, is also reportedly being mistreated in prison. She is serving a six-and-a-half-year sentence at The Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Ky., and Surgent said that she is dealing with similar conditions to Todd.
In a desperate bid to overcome the hardships, Surgent said that Todd has filed an application asking to be moved to home confinement.
Chrisley’s claims come just months after his eldest daughter, Lindsie Chrisley, claimed that he was doing well in prison. Lindsie said that Todd had made “great friends” and that his spirits were “great.”
However, Surgent’s allegations paint a different picture of Chrisley’s time in prison. If true, these allegations raise serious concerns about the treatment of celebrity inmates.
It is important to note that these are just allegations at this point. Chrisley has not been formally charged with any wrongdoing. However, if the allegations are true, they could have serious consequences for Chrisley and the prison staff.
The Bureau of Prisons has a policy of not commenting on individual inmates. However, the agency has said that it takes allegations of mistreatment seriously and that it investigates all such allegations.
It remains to be seen whether Chrisley’s allegations will be substantiated. However, if they are, they could have a major impact on his case and on the treatment of celebrity inmates in the future.
