Rob Brydon Opens Up About Hurtful Comments He Received About His Role in Barbie

British actor Rob Brydon has opened up about the hurtful comments he has received from fans of the movie Barbie. The actor, who plays Sugar Daddy Ken in the film, said that he finds it “slightly stings” when people ask why he was cast in such a big Hollywood movie.

Brydon explained that he believes the reason for these comments is because he has not taken on many big acting roles in America. Instead, he has chosen to focus on doing quiz shows and voiceovers in the UK.

The actor said that he is “resigned to the fact” that this is the price he pays for his choices. However, he also expressed his belief that there is a lesson for young actors in his experience. He said that they should “do their best in every role,” no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.

Brydon also revealed that he got his role in Barbie because of a famous fan. It turns out that Margot Robbie, who plays Barbie in the film, was a big fan of the British comedy Gavin & Stacey, in which Brydon appeared as Uncle Bryn.

The actor said that he was “amazed” to learn that Gerwig was a fan of his work. He said that it was a “lesson for young actors” that even the most critically acclaimed directors can be fans of smaller, independent projects.

Brydon concluded by saying that he had turned down American screen offers in the past because he wanted to stay in the UK with his family. He said that he is not prepared to make the sacrifices that would be necessary to make it in Hollywood.

“There has to be something inside you that needs that level of success and fame,” he said. “I don’t have it.”

Despite the hurtful comments he has received, Brydon seems to be happy with his decision to focus on his career in the UK. He is clearly passionate about his work, and he is grateful for the opportunities he has been given.
