Beyoncé Shows Support for Lizzo Amid Allegations

Beyoncé showed her support for Lizzo during her show in Atlanta on Monday night, calling out the “About Damn Time” singer’s name and exclaiming her love for her.

The gesture came amid damaging allegations made against Lizzo in a lawsuit filed by three former dancers. The suit alleges that Lizzo and her company created a hostile work environment for the dancers, and further, there were accusations of sexual harassment related to incidents that allegedly took place between 2021 and 2023.

In the immediate aftermath of the allegations becoming public, Beyoncé had left Lizzo’s name off the track during a Aug. 1 performance in Massachusetts, the singer instead repeating Erykah Badu’s name four times. However, Beyoncé brought back the Lizzo name check during a show in Maryland on Aug. 7, and she repeated it again during her show in Atlanta on Monday night.

Lizzo has denied the allegations made in the lawsuit. In an Instagram post on Aug. 3, the singer said she was “hurt” by the claims and described them as “sensationalized,” writing that she was “not the villain.”

Beyoncé’s show of support for Lizzo is a powerful gesture that sends a message of solidarity to the singer. It also suggests that Beyoncé believes Lizzo’s denials of the allegations. Only time will tell how the lawsuit will be resolved, but Beyoncé’s support is a significant boost for Lizzo as she faces these difficult allegations.

In addition to the show of support on stage, Beyoncé also shared a post on her social media account in which she praised Lizzo as a “powerful force” and a “true inspiration.” Beyoncé wrote, “I love you Lizzo! You are an inspiration to us all.”

Beyoncé’s support for Lizzo is a welcome sign in a time when the singer is facing difficult allegations. It is a reminder that there are people who believe in her and support her.
