Nia Long has filed for full physical custody of her son, Kez, after her ex-fiancé, Ime Udoka, was caught having an affair.
In court documents obtained by Page Six, Long alleges that Udoka has “failed” to provide support for Kez, 11, since their breakup. She is requesting legal and physical custody of their son, but does want Udoka to be granted “reasonable visitation” that is “consistent with the child’s best interest.”
Long and Udoka dated for 13 years and were engaged for five years before splitting in February 2023. Udoka was fired from his job as head coach of the Boston Celtics in March 2023 after news of his affair broke.
Long has not commented publicly on her decision to file for full custody of Kez. However, she did speak out about the affair in February, saying that it was “heartbreaking” for her and her son.
“I think the most heartbreaking thing about all of this was seeing my son’s face when the Boston Celtics organization decided to make a very private situation public,” Long said.
It remains to be seen what the judge will decide in the custody case. However, Long’s filing is a clear indication that she is determined to protect her son from further heartbreak.
