Melissa Joan Hart and Will Friedle, two of the biggest teen stars of the 1990s, have revealed that they had a brief romance when they were younger.
The two actors, who are now both 47, reunited on Friedle’s “Pod Meets World” podcast on Monday, where they talked about their relationship.
“I was with you for, like, your 14th birthday or 15th,” Friedle recalled. “Remember we went to some place where it [had] those big tanks you could drive or shoot the tennis balls at?”
“We went out for that, and we were, like, making googly eyes at each other. And by the end of the night, we were ‘dating,'” he continued.
Hart joked that they called each other “a few times on a landline.”
“It was a whirlwind romance,” Friedle said with a laugh.
While the duo reminisced on their flirtatious connection, neither Hart nor Friedle could remember if they ever shared a kiss.
The former ABC stars also divulged details of their upcoming film, which Friedle wrote before the COVID-19 pandemic.
He teased of the plot, “Essentially, it’s Melissa and I did a movie together back in the ’90s [that was never finished] for a bunch of very funny reasons.”
Friedle shared that the director of the fictional flick then “has to get his cast back together to finish their ’90s movie even though [they’re] all now almost 50.”
Hart called the project “super fun” and said she was “super excited” when she first read the script.
“I was like, ‘We have to do this! I have to be in this with you,'” she remembered.
Hart and Friedle are not the only ’90s teen stars who have reunited in recent years. Earlier this year, Hart revealed that she had a “little thing” with Ryan Reynolds when they were both teens. She also confirmed that she dated actor Corky Martin back in the day.
Hart and Friedle are both happily married with children. Hart married rocker Mark Wilkerson in 2003, and they have three sons together. Friedle married Susan Martens in 2016.
It’s unclear if Hart and Friedle will ever share a kiss on-screen, but it’s clear that they still have a lot of love for each other.
